World Class in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony)

The International Music Academy for Soloists – IMAS – was founded in 1978 by renowned professors of the The University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover, (Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover) together with dedicated and musically ambitious personalities from Lower Saxony. Their aim was to support highly gifted young soloists on their way to an international career in advanced master classes. For the first ten years, the master classes took place in the Wolfenbüttel Herzog August Library. Since 1988, Schloss Bückeburg (Bückeburger Schloss) has been offering an ideal atmosphere of tranquility and seclusion for nine days of intense artistic work in the autumn. Over many years of lasting success, the IMAS has attained an excellent reputation within the „familiy" of international master classes.

Hospitality in Bückeburg

The ancient residental town of Bückeburg Residenzstadt Bückeburg combines the artistic atmosphere of previous centuries with traditional hospitality. An addition to the advanced musical training is the gathering and the communication of people in an environment characterized by tolerance and affection. Every year, Prince Alexander zu Schaumburg Lippe, as the generous host and music- loving landlord, opens the doors of Schloss Bückeburg for the teachers and master class students from all over the world. Part of the courses, as well as the festive final concert, take place in an ambience that is rich in tradition. The personal, amicable atmosphere of the Autumn Academy is substantially characterized by the cordial, open-minded hospitality of the Bückeburg families who accomodate the young artists, accompany them and offer them the opportunity to practise.
