In the light of Beethoven's centenary year, not only the piano world is looking back at a pianist, whose artistry reached unparalleled heights. This January he would have turned 100 years old: Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.

Our themed evening on September 22nd is dedicated to the life and work of this extraordinary person and artist. Professor of piano in Halle, Jochen Köhler, has recently published an acclaimed book in light of Michelangeli's 100th birthday. The book contains an in-depth interview with Bernd Goetzke, who Michelangeli described as his last student.

Professor Köhler, together with Bernd Goetzke and another of Michelangeli's friends- the former factory manager of the Steinway & Sons company, Edmund W. Böckenholt, will present the evening's program and retrace Michelangeli's path -"In Search of the Perfect" - the title of his book - in word, picture and sound.
